The revolt against the Islamic regime of Iran continues despite the increasing brutality of the oppressors. The tactics on both sides are evolving. To avoid being killed or seriously injured, some demonstrators are marching without chanting slogans; their silence is an attempt to avoid persecution. However, the regime has started to double down on issuing harsh sentences, including death sentences and long prison terms for arrested demonstrators.
Many shops are closed in protest. The regime has taken up threatening the shop keepers with prosecution for keeping their shops closed, and it has intensified pressure on those who have been arrested. Forced admission of guilt on television, through torture, has become common place, and threats of taking revenge against the families of killed, imprisoned, or arrested people continues.
Strikes by teachers, truck drivers, industrial workers college students have expanded. To enable denial of their crimes against humanity, the regime’s hench men steal dead bodies from hospitals and bury them before notifying the families. The stories they invent to cover up their crimes are becoming more and more illogical, ridiculous, and unbelievable each day. Bald-face lying has become a signature trait of the Islamic Republic.
Nothing has changed. A mistreated and desperate people, with empty hands and no appetite for violence, have stood against a brutal, well-armed, experienced oppression force that is battle-hardened in Syria and elsewhere, to fight for freedoms that are the rights of every human. Bashar Assad is the role model of these evil oppressors. He killed and killed, with their help and Russia’s help, until he succeeded to maintain his power. They are determined to do the same. Without help from free nations around the world, they will succeed too.
We need help from all freedom-loving people to overcome this evil. Help without interference in our future is what we need. Help us succeed and we can inspire other people who are struggling for freedom, as Ukrainians have inspired us.
